This project has taken almost 2 months of non-stop work. However I only do it ever 5 or more years and I am hoping I will not have to do it for a long time.

However once I move hosting. Then I will be able to work on this blog and other blogs a lot more.

Vista x64 and Canon 1d

Ok.. on sunday last week my computer died on me. Which is not normally a big deal because I used to teach computers at the College of Southern Nevada for about five years so I am really good with computers.

My old baby was a really nice and I had an intel raid set up. Well some of the data was lost( because I didn't feel like looking for month for an intel raid controller motherboards to replace it)

However I moved to X64 Vista, I got a quad core computer that is over clocked and running really nice. I was a bit scared to try vista again. I used it about a year ago and was very unhappy with it, however this time it is much better.

The install is SUPER Easy,it detected and installed the correct drives for my new motherboard, raid, video card, and everything else. I didn't have to install or update ANY drivers.. I was shocked..

Also.. most of the things work REALLY well.. Photoshop CS3 works.. Encore works. ( i had to re-transcode a video from HD to non-HD for a friend) and it is JUST SUPER FAST..

However.. the one thing that i'm dieing to get to work is Canon Drivers for my Camera. It can't do anything until I get the drivers to work in x64.. i can't change any of the setting in my camera, and I just feel limited until I can get the firewire / ieee 1394 drivers to work..

OHH.. mad..

Meditation

zion_overlook, originally uploaded by Richard Young Photography.

Sometime landscape pics can be so much stronger by adding a simple element of human nature, an expression of why or who we are. We create these great National Parks to relax and to get away from the crazy world we live in. However when we go out to shoot the National Parks we never include this in our photography.

ryp_5434

ryp_5434, originally uploaded by Richard Young Photography.

I meet this model on craigslist and we meet up and did a shoot. Last week I worked with the Blue Man group and that was great. Often photographers go there whole careers with out working with such high profile clients. Also I shot for Mayor office or Governor. It is via a third party client (my booking agent has more information.)

Back to the Blue Man Group, I guess the client was so happy with my work he has asked me to do Post Production work on with, which is also an honor. Often people don't understand what I mean when I say Visual Artist. I am not just a photographer. I am not just a Photoshop Guru. I have a special set of skills that are really rare.

I leave in a couple of days for work to Mexico. You know Mexico is not my fav. place to shoot but it is nice. I always loved shooting in Jamaica, I'm just madly in love with that place.

When I get back.. I have two projects ( for print work)..

A special black and white project.
Also a special face and lips close up project.

p.s. I should have some freash tear sheet from a new fashion magazine coming out this month.

Downtown New Las Vegas

Downtown Vegas, originally uploaded by Richard Young Photography.

The City of Las Vegas just added some more neon signs down town to the already famous signs down there. I was invited down to shoot the work. The work I created down there turned out super strong because of the processes I used the colors pop off the paper so much more.

Pictures of myself

Missing Jeff, originally uploaded by Richard Young Photography.

Many people don't know that my younger brother died two months ago. His death was very sudden and we had no warning.

Well he was a huge part of my life and my photographic process. He would often travel with me to meet clients and models. He would help with the set up and break down of the gear. I remember how much time I spent with him explain how and why I like to retouch things my way, which he learned and became very good at it.

I had a clear idea of what I wanted to express in the picture. I didn't want to be looking at the camera. I didn't want my back to the camera either. I wanted to be either looking for something.. or looking for someone.

I wanted a tripod the was clear and that was a strong element of the picture. There was different ways of making this happened, however I thought just a simple tripod with eveing sun would work best.

A couple more elements I thought about when creating this pic. I shot it at UNLV. The local college. There is a couple of reason for that. One is because it is the hope of most parents that there kids go to college. So maybe I am looking off to future for hope that I will see him again. Also when we where young, Jeff and I would often play around the UNLV campus, so that had a lot of emotion impact for me.

Finally I had a tighter cropping of this picture however a couple of people liked this one more because they can see a face in the clouds looking down at me. It took my a while to find it, but after a while I did find it I can see the face in the clouds looking at me.
